From the hands and heart of Callie Spiros, Kalí Zoë is the embodiment of a lifelong connection to water and nature. Callie’s journey has taken her from coast to coast, with a brief stop near the saltless Lake Michigan while studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Now, her studio and showroom is nestled on Long Island, NY, overlooking the harbor where she grew up.
While at SAIC, Callie began her training in photography but quickly discovered her passion for sculpture and working with her hands. The tactile nature of metalworking drew her in, offering a way to physically manipulate the material. Although there was no jewelry department at SAIC, Callie’s resourcefulness led her to Chicago’s jewelry district, where she honed her skills under the mentorship of generational artisans, merging her education in design and sculpture with practical craftsmanship. By the time she reached her third year of study, Callie was laying the foundation for her brand, Kalí Zoë, which means the ‘good life’ in Greek.
Kalí Zoë pieces capture Callie’s deep appreciation for the natural world. Whether hiking in the serene Napa Valley, where she opened her first showroom or sailing the waters of the Northeast, these landscapes and experiences inspire her organic, timeless designs. Callie finds great joy in collaborating with clients on custom pieces for life’s most significant moments, be it an engagement, anniversary, or repurposing heirlooms from family members. She treasures these intimate projects, whether in person or remotely.
All Kalí Zoë stones are either antique, with histories we can only imagine, or one-of-a-kind, masterfully cut modern stones. Callie’s favorite diamonds to work with are Old Mine Cuts. These diamonds, hand-cut in the 1800s under candlelight, are all unique—no two are alike. When she comes across a matched pair, it offers a rare opportunity to create truly exceptional pieces. What Callie loves about Old Mine Cuts is their shape, with fewer, chunkier facets that give them a distinctive sparkle, especially in low light. This unique quality, combined with their antique charm, allows Callie to craft jewelry that feels both timeless and one-of-a-kind.
Callie is inspired by giving a new life to old stones. Her trained eye allows her to see detail and nuance in each unique gemstone and diamond she chooses. Almost immediately, she has an idea for what the gem will become.
Kalí Zoë works with renowned diamond and gem dealers in the US, Europe, and Asia. Some specialize in rare antique stones from European estates, while others source rough stones from mines around the world. This commitment to sourcing, combined with Callie’s creative process, lies at the heart of what makes the collection so special.
The collection is primarily made in 18k yellow gold, and each piece is carved by hand to become a future heirloom—all while upholding a rigorous ethical standard.
Kalí Zoë’s designs continue to grow, reflecting Callie’s deepening expertise and evolving sense of style—each collection a love letter to the moments that have shaped her journey.
